The Oregon Nanoscience and Microtechnologies Institute is a collaboration among Oregon State University, Portland State University, the University of Oregon, the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, the state of Oregon and a number of high-tech companies in Oregon and Southwest Washington. ONAMI partners are conducting research in several areas of nanoscience to discover potential commercial applications in industries such as computers, healthcare, energy systems and environmental remediation. Sanda created the corporate logo and identity for ONAMI, a melding of the institute's wishes to combine "onami"—Japanese for "wave"—with visuals depicting a small world and a wave.
