Engineering Technology Pathways

btn Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing

Graduates find work in manufacturing facilities as manual or CNC machine tool operators, CNC programmers or designers. Studies emphasize hands-on machining and programming combined with some drafting and design.

Example projects: designing and fabricating parts for a machine; analyzing process for production runs; CNC programming

Several certificates and 2-year degree options offered

btn Mechanical Design

This option prepares students to work for mechanical engineers or designers. Students study applied mechanical engineering, drafting and design as well as some hands-on machining.

Example projects: designing a vise; calculating gearing; designing a hydraulic system; preparing detail and assembly drawings of a wide variety of machinery and mechanical devices; indicating dimensions, fastening methods, and other requirements

2-year degree offered

btn Computer-Assisted Drafting

This program introduces students to a broad range of drafting careers covering mechanical, civil, structural, and architectural drafting fields. It prepares students to work in design offices related to the construction industry (work for architects, engineers, contractors, home designers) or in manufacturing or civil offices.

Example projects: preparing building plans, bridge plans, roadway design, cell phone tower design; maintaining municipal infrastructure drawings

1-year certificate or 2 year degree offered

btn Civil Technology

This program prepares students to work in civil engineering or survey offices. Hands-on surveying classes are more comprehensive than any other two-year program available in the state. Students study roadway design, utility layout and design, and surveying.

Example projects: designing a subdivision, including lot layout, roadway, and sewer and water system; surveying a piece of property; researching land use and boundary information.

1-year certificate or 2 year degree offered

btn Engineering Transfer

Engineers play an essential role in the technical building blocks of society. Huge earthmovers, super computers, space probes, lifesaving medical equipment, super efficient power plants, or a modern freeway; engineers are involved in design, construction and operation of new developments and technologies.

Chemeketa offers programs that closely follow the first two years of study at many public and private universities. In most cases, students are able to complete the first two years of a Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering at Chemeketa before transferring to a university for completion.
